Overview

TLA USA is a brand operated by TLA Industries, Inc., a family-owned California general contractor (CSLB #1159013). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect from you through tlausa.com, our online forms, phone calls, and SMS communications; how we use it; how we share it; and the rights and choices you have.

By using our website or submitting information to us, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you don't agree, please don't use our website or submit information to us.

The short version

We collect the minimum information needed to schedule your in-home visit and quote your project honestly. We use it to serve you — not to sell to third-party marketers. We follow California privacy law and industry-standard SMS consent rules. You can reach us anytime at privacy@tlausa.com or 888-768-4TLA.

02

Information we collect

Information you provide directly

When you request a 15-Minute Visit or otherwise contact us, we collect:

  • Contact information: first and last name, phone number, email address.
  • Location information: ZIP code (used to confirm service area) and, if provided during your visit or scheduling, your service address.
  • Project photos: images you upload showing the space where the patio cover will be installed.
  • Communications: messages you send us through the website, by SMS, by email, or by phone.

Information collected automatically

When you visit our website, we automatically collect limited technical information:

  • Device type, browser, operating system, and screen size.
  • Pages visited, referring URLs, and time spent on the site.
  • Approximate geographic location derived from IP address (city/region only, not precise coordinates).

We do not use cross-site advertising trackers or third-party marketing pixels. Our analytics provider is privacy-focused and does not require cookie banners in most jurisdictions.

Information from third parties

We do not purchase personal information from data brokers. If you interact with us on a third-party platform (for example, a Google Business Profile review), that platform's privacy policy governs your data with them. If you apply for financing through a third-party Financing Partner, see Section 6.

Sensitive Personal Information (CPRA)

TLA USA does not collect Sensitive Personal Information (SPI) as defined by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). We do not collect Social Security Numbers, driver's license numbers, financial account credentials, precise geolocation (as defined by CPRA — a radius of 1,850 feet or less), racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, union membership, genetic data, biometric data, health information, or information about sex life or sexual orientation.

If you apply for financing through one of our third-party Financing Partners, that Financing Partner may collect SPI directly from you (for example, your Social Security Number for a credit check). TLA USA does not receive that SPI from the Financing Partner — see Section 6.

Inference from your information

We do not use the personal information we collect to draw inferences about you (such as preferences, characteristics, or predispositions) beyond what's needed to serve you directly. We do not build profiles of you for advertising, cross-context behavioral advertising, or third-party targeting.

03

How we use information

We use your information for these purposes only:

  • To schedule and deliver your service: confirming service-area coverage, coordinating your 15-Minute Visit, preparing an accurate quote, and completing your patio cover installation.
  • To communicate with you: confirming appointments, notifying you when your installer is en route, answering your questions, and responding to your requests.
  • To improve our service: understanding which pages are helpful, which forms cause confusion, and how we can better serve Southern California homeowners.
  • To meet legal obligations: responding to lawful requests, enforcing our Terms of Service, and complying with California contractor licensing requirements.

We do not use your information to sell you to third-party marketers, to build cross-site advertising profiles, or to train AI models.

04

SMS & text messaging

When you check the SMS consent box on our form or otherwise opt in, you consent to receive non-marketing text messages from TLA USA about your scheduled appointment and patio cover project. This is a service-based text program, not a marketing program.

What kinds of texts we send

  • Appointment confirmations after your visit is scheduled.
  • Arrival notifications when your installer or estimator is en route.
  • Direct responses to text messages you send us.
  • Follow-up questions related to your specific project.

Your consent choices

  • Message frequency varies — typically only when there's an appointment update or your reply is needed.
  • Message and data rates may apply per your mobile carrier.
  • Reply HELP for assistance.
  • Reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe. You will receive one confirmation message and no further texts.
  • Consent to receive SMS is not a condition of purchasing anything from us.

Our SMS platform is provided through GoHighLevel and complies with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). We do not share your phone number with third-party SMS marketers.

05

How we share information

We share limited personal information only with the following categories of service providers, and only for the purposes listed:

  • Communication and CRM platforms (e.g., GoHighLevel) to send SMS/email, manage appointments, and organize customer records.
  • Job management software (e.g., Jobber) to schedule installations and coordinate crews.
  • Hosting and file storage (e.g., Vercel, Upstash) to serve our website and securely store your uploaded photos.
  • Analytics provider (privacy-focused, no cross-site tracking) to understand aggregate website use.
  • Payment processors if you make a payment to us.
  • Legal, tax, or accounting professionals when required for the operation of our business.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to enforce our Terms of Service, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of TLA Industries, Inc., our customers, or others.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third-party marketers, data brokers, or advertising networks.

06

Third-party financing partners

TLA USA may offer optional financing through one or more independent third-party lenders (each a "Financing Partner") to help homeowners fund their patio cover project. This section explains what happens with your information if you choose to explore financing.

Key point

TLA Industries, Inc. is not a lender and does not process credit applications. If you apply for financing, you're interacting directly with the Financing Partner. Their privacy policy governs your financial information — not this one.

How it works

  • If you're interested in financing, we'll refer you to a Financing Partner's own application platform.
  • Once you begin the Financing Partner's application, you're interacting with a separate business that has its own privacy policy, terms, and legal disclosures.
  • You should review the Financing Partner's privacy policy carefully before submitting any information to them.

What TLA USA does NOT receive from the Financing Partner

  • Your credit application data
  • Your Social Security Number or other government identifiers
  • Your income, employment history, or bank account details
  • Your credit report or credit score
  • The Financing Partner's underwriting reasoning or decision factors

What TLA USA may receive from the Financing Partner

  • Confirmation that you were referred and that you completed (or did not complete) an application
  • High-level status updates — for example, "approved," "declined," or "pending" — so we can plan your project timeline appropriately
  • No financial details, no reasons behind those statuses

Your rights with the Financing Partner

Any dispute about how a Financing Partner handles your data must be resolved with them directly. If you have concerns about a specific Financing Partner or want to verify their state licensing, you can check with the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) or another applicable regulator.

You're never required to use financing

Financing is optional. You can pay for your project by any lawful means. Choosing not to apply for financing has no effect on the price we quote, the service we provide, or the warranty on your installation.

07

Cookies, analytics & DNT

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies to make the site work:

  • Session cookies to remember your progress through our 15-Minute Visit form if you leave and come back.
  • Preference cookies to remember basic settings like your ZIP code so we don't ask again.
  • Aggregate analytics from a privacy-focused provider that measures anonymous, aggregate site traffic without personal identification or cross-site tracking.

Because we do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site trackers, we do not display a cookie consent banner in most jurisdictions. If you'd like to disable cookies entirely, your browser's privacy settings can do this. Some parts of the form may not work correctly without session cookies.

Do Not Track (DNT) — our CalOPPA disclosure

In compliance with the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA), we disclose how we respond to Do Not Track (DNT) browser signals: TLA USA does not engage in cross-site tracking or third-party behavioral advertising, so our practices do not change based on your DNT setting. We do not track you across websites regardless of whether DNT is enabled in your browser.

08

When we no longer need your information, we delete or de-identify it in a secure manner. You may request early deletion at any time by contacting us (see Section 10 — Your rights).

09

Security

We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your personal information, including:

  • HTTPS encryption on all data transmitted through our website.
  • Encrypted storage of photos and personal information at rest.
  • Access controls limiting who at TLA Industries, Inc. can view customer information (Tobias and Liz Atwood are the primary custodians).
  • Regular software updates on the platforms we use.

No system is 100% secure. If we become aware of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by California law.

10

Your rights (California residents)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California residents have the following rights:

  • Right to know: request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we've collected about you in the past twelve months.
  • Right to delete: request that we delete personal information we've collected from you, subject to certain exceptions (e.g., warranty obligations, tax records).
  • Right to correct: request that we correct inaccurate personal information we hold about you.
  • Right to opt out of sale or sharing: we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, but you have the right to opt out. See Section 10 below.
  • Right to limit use of sensitive personal information: we do not use sensitive personal information for purposes beyond what's necessary to provide our services.
  • Right to non-discrimination: we will not deny service or charge different prices because you exercised these rights.

How to exercise your rights

To submit a request, email privacy@tlausa.com with "Privacy Rights Request" in the subject line, or call 888-768-4TLA. We may need to verify your identity before completing your request. We will respond within 45 days.

Authorized agents

You may designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. We will require written proof of the agent's authority and may verify your identity directly.

11

Do not sell, share & GPC

TLA Industries, Inc. does not sell your personal information for money. We also do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising (as defined by California law).

Global Privacy Control (GPC)

TLA USA honors Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signals as a valid opt-out request under the CPRA. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as if you had manually requested to opt out of any sale or sharing of your personal information — regardless of whether we do those things (we don't). This means your GPC preference is respected automatically, with no action needed from you.

If California law changes or if we ever change these practices, we will update this policy and provide clear notice.

12

Children's privacy

Our website and services are directed to homeowners, not to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us at privacy@tlausa.com and we will delete it.

13

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, our services, or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy and, where appropriate, provide additional notice (such as an email or an in-form notice).

Your continued use of our website and services after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
